What would YOU do if an emergency/disaster
hit close to home or work?
This
emergency/disaster preparedness and response training will include how to plan
for an emergency, and teach basic response skills such as fire safety, light
search and rescue, team organization, and emergency/disaster medical
operations. At the completion of this training, participants are encouraged to
support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency
preparedness projects in our community.
Please
note: this class is a two day class, April 5, (8:00am to 5:30pm) and April 12
(8:00am to 5:30pm)
Denver Local Emergency Planning Committee Meeting (LEPC)

The
Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) gives Denver residents, business
owners, and government officials a platform to collaboratively plan for
hazardous materials emergencies. The LEPC gathers monthly and rotates its
meeting location through the 11 Denver Council Districts. Residents are
encouraged to attend and learn about managing their community’s risk from
hazardous materials while contributing to the city’s emergency planning
efforts.
We
are looking to see you at the LEPC Meeting. We will the agenda available in a
few weeks.

SKYWARN® Storm spotters” program

Mayor’s Office of Emergency Management, Denver CERT Program and National Weather Service would like to invite you to participate in the “SKYWARN® Storm spotters” program.
Presenter: The National Weather Service (NWS)
Class participants will be given the tools to become active SKYWARN spotters for the National Weather Service in Boulder CO. Training involves a basic overview of the National Weather Service and sections on weather safety, thunderstorm basics, and information on spotting storms and tornado identification. You will also be given reporting procedures to our office and includes a section on advanced spotter training and case studies from storms over Colorado. Training lasts around 2 and 1/2 hours and is free of cost.
You'll learn:
• Basics of thunderstorm development
• Fundamentals of storm structure
• Identifying potential severe weather features
• Information to report
• How to report information
• Basic severe weather safety
