To whom it may concern as members of all affected Registered
Neighborhood Organizations (RNOs), Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) and City
Councilman Wayne New of District 10,
AIDS Walk Colorado will be taking place at Cheesman Park
on Saturday, August 19th between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00
p.m., with set up of the event occurring on Friday, August 18th.
We anticipate 4,000 – 6,000 people in attendance to mark this anniversary
event.
The event will be on the south side of the park again
this year to allow accessibility to 12th Ave. Please note some
streets surrounding the park will be closed from 8:00 a.m. to approximately
12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 19th while our walk is in process. I
have attached a map for your consideration to show which streets this will
affect.
Additionally, entry ways into Cheesman Park will be
closed to vehicle traffic beginning on Saturday, August 19th at 7:00
a.m. and continuing through the afternoon. Vehicles of any kind will not
be allowed to drive into the park during this closure as a safety precaution
for the thousands of event attendees and the hundreds of volunteers throughout
the park and on the park roadways.
It is our hope that strike of the event will happen
within in 3 hours of the event’s end and that we can re-open the entry ways to
the park by 6:00 pm on August 19th.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding, and please
feel free to share this information with anyone who you think would like to
attend. I will be the primary contact for the day of the event, and my
cell phone number is 303-523-3876. For your information, I have attached
our Press Release with all relevant information, as well as a map of the
Run/Walk Route. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Kind Regards,
