Walk/Bike Denver

Dear Jasmine Place Community,

I am writing to invite you to join WalkDenver, BikeDenver, the Transit Alliance, the Mayor’s Bicycle Advisory Committee (MBAC), the Mayor’s Pedestrian Advisory Committee (MPAC), and Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation (INC) in demonstrating support for Denver’s adoption of “Vision Zero” and the goal of zero traffic fatalities.

A growing international movement, Vision Zero is a strategy to eliminate all traffic fatalities and severe injuries, while increasing safe, healthy, equitable mobility for all.  Denver Mayor Hancock’s 2016 budget includes $350,000 to create a plan and public marketing campaign that will “formally declare” Denver as a Vision Zero city.

Together with our partners, we are organizing a Vision Zero Love-In on the Friday before Valentine’s Day, February 12, from 11:00 am to 1 pm.  The Love-In will be a truly multi-modal event, with bicyclists, pedestrians, transit riders, and car-share users meeting at various locations and traveling together (along a different route for each mode) to the steps of the City and County building.  The rally will culminate with the delivery to Mayor Hancock of hand-signed Valentine’s from Denver residents declaring their love for safe streets and support for the data-driven, complete and equitable implementation of Vision Zero projects and policies in Denver.

Your RNO can support this effort in several different ways:

  • Sign on to the Vision Zero Support Statement below.  We will deliver this statement and the list of supporting organizations to Mayor Hancock along with the Valentine’s from Denver residents.
  • Sign the “virtual Valentine” at this link
  • Spread the word via social media, using the facebook and twitter messages below

Just reply to this e-mail to confirm your willingness to help out!

Thanks for your support,

Jill

Vision Zero Supporter Statement

A growing international movement, Vision Zero is a strategy to eliminate all traffic fatalities and severe injuries, while increasing safe, healthy, equitable mobility for all. Denver residents deserve streets that are safe for all people, particularly the most vulnerable users traveling on foot or by bike. No one should have to die, simply trying to get around the City.  The following organizations support the data-driven, complete and equitable implementation of Vision Zero projects and policies in Denver.
