Outdoor Warning Siren Test - 5/9/17

FULL TESTOUTDOOR WARNING SIRENS WEDNESDAY

May 9, 2017 (Denver, Co) ¾ The City and County of Denver will conduct a full three minutes test of the outdoor warning siren system this Wednesday, May 10, at 11:00 a.m.  This test is conducted annually in advance of tornado season and will consist of sounding all of the City’s outdoor warning sirens sounding simultaneously for a full three minutes.

“This test is an opportunity for all Denver residents and business to review their emergency plan and practice their emergency procedures” said Ryan Broughton, Executive Director Office of Emergency Management.

If you hear an outdoor warning siren in Denver this Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., it is a test.  As a reminder, if you hear outdoor warning sirens at any other time, seek shelter immediately and seek additional information from local media for further warnings or instructions. The best places to shelter during a tornado are indoors, in a basement or interior room, and away from windows.
